Tweed Vally Trail Association
https://www.tweedvalleytrails.org/

Who?

The Tweed Valley Trails Association (TVTA) is a registered Scottish Charity set up by local mountain biking enthusiasts to help sustain and manage the trail network across the whole of the Tweed Valley Forest Park.

From the original idea born out of a pub meeting in 2015, to reaching official charity status in late 2017, a core of keen locals have come together with the intention to build upon and improve what is already a nationally if not world renowned MTB venue.

Why?

The hand crafted trails in the valley are no secret and have hosted multiple local, national and international races, and combined with the already established 7 Stanes network, these trails provide something for every skill level, style and taste of mountain biker.

We want to see this network survive and bring benefits to local riders, businesses, community groups and visitors alike.

TVTA'S PURPOSE

The TVTA’s purpose is to maintain and improve the mountain bike trail network in the highly regarded mountain bike destination - the Tweed Valley.

  • A significant proportion of the existing trails are not currently maintained by an official organisation.

  • There is also currently a lack of organised community engagement with official stakeholders and land managers.

  • TVTA aims to be a vital and positive link between the local mountain biking community and the various organisations managing the forests and facilities in the region.

  • With the growth of mountain biking in the Tweed Valley, and as a major event destination, the trails have begun to require additional maintenance.

  • The sustainability and growth of the trail network is crucial to the area's local economy, while also making living in the area more attractive to locals, and improving national engagement in the sport.

  • The group aims to enhance the experience of mountain bikers in the valley and visitors to the area by making the trails safe, enjoyable, and sustainable into the future.

  • Safe, marked and maintained bike trails and multi user paths are important recreational facilities for experiencing the outdoors and promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, which in turn improves the conditions of all of our lives.

How?

Working closely with local land owners and land managers, as well as other forest user groups, we aim to make this amazing network of trails sustainable and ever improving. This will involve raising funds, maintaining trails, volunteer dig days and more.

Representing and supporting mountain biking in Sheffield

Ride Sheffield is a group that uses the collective might of Sheffield’s mountain bike community to improve, preserve and promote access interests for mountain bikers.

From our Be Nice Say Hi campaign, to crowd funded trails like Lady Canning’s, we aim to work alongside other groups and landowners to keep things positive for riders in the area.

We are constitutionally-bound, with the aim of giving mountain bikers a single voice with regard to issues relating to trail preservation and development in and around Sheffield.

Ride Sheffield is a not-for-profit organisation for mountain bikers in and around Sheffield. It is run entirely by volunteers and relies on donations to carry out work.

All donations go towards maintaining Sheffield trails, or funds towards building new ones. Projects like Lady Canning’s wouldn’t happen without donations from riders!

We use Trail Fund and other donations to purchase tools, materials, lunches for dig days and merchandise to sell at events or in our online shop. We’re also saving a buffer so that our purpose-built, crowd-funded trails can get full resurfacing when required – rather than needing another specific fundraising push.

We happily accept all donations, whether as one-off payments, or monthly Trail Fund.

If you have skills that you think might be useful to Ride Sheffield – we’ll happily accept that help too.  Maybe you have a business that could get involved somehow?

Peak District MTB

Aims

Peak District MTB is an advocacy group aimed at using the collective voice of the Peak District’s resident mountain bike community and seeks to improve, preserve and promote access interests for mountain bikers who live and ride within the Peak District National Park. We would also love to have the support of riders from outside the Park and you can offer this through joining us as a supporter member.

Objectives

To support the development of the Peak District National Park to become one of the largest, most exciting and well connected areas in the UK for mountain biking.

Strategy

Our intention is to deliver the objectives through six key strategies, these are:

  1. To support, in whatever way is appropriate and possible, the upkeep and development of rideable mountain bike routes in the Peak District National Park.

  2. To seek to reinstate any downgraded routes and connect any dead end or hanging rights of way to enable the creation of a widely connected area of rideable trails wherever possible.

  3. To promote, represent, lobby and publicise the needs of mountain biking in the Peak District National Park and to challenge any plans or actions that may restrict, reduce or remove access, though the representation of the views of our membership.

  4. To build working relationships with other pressure groups, landowners, authorities and local government bodies that may have a direct or indirect effect upon mountain biking in the Peak District National Park.

  5. To research and record, by whatever means possible, mountain bike usage, its economic impact and potential within the Peak District National Park and to publicise and disseminate this information through appropriate means.

  6. To help promote the Peak District as a premier location for mountain biking.

Each member of the committee will be focusing on one of these and with support from the other committee members and supporters we will aim to report back on all activities in line with these six key strategies.
